Malcolm-Jamal Warner, ‘Cosby Show’ Star, Dies at 54

The actor who rose to fame as the character of Theo on “The Cosby Show” has died at age 54.
Malcolm-Jamal Warner drowned off the coast of Costa Rica while on a family vacation. He died of asphyxia after he was caught by a high current in the ocean.
Warner played the son of Claire and Heathcliff Huxtable—played by Phylicia Rashad and Bill Cosby—on the show from 1984 to 1992.
Warner was nominated for an Emmy for best supporting actor for his work on the show, and he later starred in the sitcoms “Malcolm & Eddie” on UPN and “Reed Between the Lines” on BET. He continued to act in his later years, including in his role as AJ Austin on “The Resident” from 2018 to 2023.
