Heat advisory extended through Friday

The first heat wave of the year is not going anywhere. The massive heat dome is causing temperatures to soar up to 20 degrees warmer than normal from Nebraska to New England.
Locally, the National Weather Service has extended our heat advisory through Friday for the entire area,
Daily heat index values of 106 are forecast during the advisory.
The only potential relief will be in the form of isolated to scattered showers or storms that might develop during the max heating hours of the day, but even that provides only brief and temporary relief.
The heat can affect anyone without adequate cooling and hydration.
The combination of heat and humidity will have a greater than normal impact, especially on those spending a lot of time outdoors and in the sun.
Continue to limit your time outdoors and take more frequent breaks. Make sure outdoor pets and livestock have water and shade available.
