The McCracken County girls led from wire to wire to cruise in its first-round win at Rupp Arena on Wednesday.

Russell struggled to shoot the ball in its 50-33 loss to the Mustangs. 

The Red Devils (28-7) started 0 for 16 from beyond the arc, and McCracken (30-5) took plenty of high-percentage shots with 28 points in the paint. 

Senior Claire Johnson was the star for McCracken County, finishing with 21 points, seven rebounds, and six assists. Sophomore Reagan Hill posted a 12-point, 11-rebound effort.

The Mustangs will play the Bowling Green Purples (24-10) in the Elite Eight at 10 a.m. on Friday.
